The Rolling Stones
The English rock band The Rolling Stones was formed in 1962.
The five origional members of the group were lead singer Mick Jagger
(1943- ), guitarists Keith Richard (1943- ) and Brian Jones
(1942-1969), bassist Bill Wyman (1936- ), and drummer Charlie
Watts (1941- ). Brian Jones left the band in 1969 just before his
death. Mick Talyor replaced Jones. Five years later in 1974 Talyor
quit the band. Ron Wood has been the stones second guitarist since
then.
The Rolling Stones were origionaly formed to play the music
of earlier blues and rock artists. However, years later Jagger and
Richard soon began writing most of the band's material. Some of
their hit songs include "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (1965),
"Get Off My Cloud" (1965), "Honky Tonk Women" (1969), "Brown Sugar"
(1971) and "Start Me Up" (1981). In the 1980's the members of
The Rolling Stones began involving themselves in solo recording
projects.
